Did you know that your vote registration information is sold to the people who have the interest and money to get it?.
All you need to do is write a check and fill out the form listed and linked on the Government Accounting Board website.
Chances are you didn’t know that your vote registration info was not confidential. Many of us are careful to check the boxes to protect our personal information, yet the GAB will email your name and address to anyone with the cash.
Please use form GAB-361 to request the purchase of data in the Statewide Voter Registration System.
As of August 2006, the price for data from the Statewide Voter Registration Systems (SVRS) is $25 plus $5 per 1,000 voters (rounded to the nearest thousand). The price charged for data is set by administrative rule and is therefore the same regardless of the government level chosen to fulfill the data request. Please note that not all counties and municipalities fulfill data requests. The SVRS is constantly updated, so it is necessary to query the system before the price for a file can be provided. The Administrative Rule for Data Pricing is GAB 3.50. The price for the entire state list is capped at $12,500.
Got an extra twelve K laying around? Here is the form to get your neighbor’s vote registration info:
Even though the GAB considers it’s role in election protection to be that of a mediator or referee, Kevin Kennedy and his board of retired Judges are quite aggressive about “selling” the quality and integrity of the information they can provide to the wealthy.

Isn’t it clear that the GAB has it’s priorities turned around and upside down?
What does selling your vote registration information have to do with election integrity?
When it comes to selling information; “The G.A.B. is dedicated to maintaining the highest possible voter data quality and accurate elections information.” BUT Kennedy says the GAB mission in election integrity…, “our role is to play the referee, the arbitrator, to play the enforcer”.
Doesn’t Kennedy have it backwards? Shouldn’t the GAB be “dedicated” to election integrity before selling voter information?
And who do you think has the interest and the money to buy the GAB goods?
Would it be the campaigns and outside interests who want to target advertising, neighborhood canvasing, and (god forbid) analyze which votes might be flipped in which ward? So, in effect, your GAB is more aggressive in aiding and abetting parties that manipulate elections than it is in the GAB Mission Statement:
GAB Our Mission
The mission of the Board is to ensure accountability in government by enforcing ethics and lobbying laws, and to enhance representative democracy by ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. To carry out this mission, the G.A.B. and its staff direct their energies toward providing for an informed electorate. The G.A.B. is a source of information about the election process, and the activities and finances of candidates for public office.;
Funny how the GAB has not been so good at “informing the electorate” that vote registration information is for sale.
You cannot have your name and information removed the list. A member of Wis. Citizens for Election Protection informed me in the following message.
I just talked with John at GAB. You CANNOT get your name, address, and phone number off this list UNLESS YOU STOP VOTING… or if you have a court order protecting your information as a victim of abuse or stalking, etc. He told me, “Keep in… mind, at whitepages.com anyone can find your name and address. It’s public information.” He told me this list has been for sale since 2006.
