It’s the Oligarchy (Economy) Stupid

“It’s the economy, stupid!” was the Clinton-Gore campaign slogan in 1992. There was a mild recession because of the transition from a wartime (Cold War) economy to a peacetime economy.Stentorian – 1992

Have trouble understanding the progressives’ failure to “fall in line” with Hillary? It is as simple as the 1992 campaign slogan of Bill, substituting just one word. OLIGARCHY. It is the oligarchy stupid.

Bernie Sanders lit fire as the first major candidate of the democratic party to expose the distribution of wealth as the elephant in hillary_downton4the room of all social unrest, political divisiveness. Bernie spoke emphatically to the primary threat to Democracy as defined by the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. It seems you either “get it” or you don’t.

But why would you “get it”? My friend had cancer for months without knowing it. It was only an unrelated injury that prompted the x ray to reveal the spots on his lung. Okay. (Spoiler – Here comes the “cancer analogy”). To take it a step further, I admit I was blind to the cancer of oligarchy until Bernie began is primary campaign. You see, I believed the threat of the Oligarch was at Stage 2. Only when I saw the “x ray” as represented by the  reporting of the mainstream media and the collusion of the established Democratic Party, only then, was I forced to admit we were at Stage 4 Oligarchy. Until then I trusted the folks on MSNBC. I watched the Rachel Maddow show religiously. I believed in the democratic party and Bill Clinton, msnbc_cheerleaders3Barney Frank, Al Franken, and Tammy Baldwin. When presented with results of the x ray offered by Bernie Sanders and faced the doom of Stage 4 Oligarchy, I went through all the levels of grieving. Yes. It was painful. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally, acceptance.

So, I no longer see the America or the world as I did a few months ago. I ask those who see the historical icon of the first woman President, and the real threat posed by Trump, to bear with me. I’ve come to acceptance that “It is the Oligarchy stupid”. The “stupid” is self directed. Sometimes the anger at myself comes out as an surly rant on face book, but  the truth is; I am angry with myself, mostly.  I have seen the awful diagnosis of Stage 4 Oligarchy. This is it. There is no time to experiment  with the therapy of “choosing the lesser evil” or “climbing aboard to beat Trump”.

But let me share withbaldwin_berniephone you the event that “sealed the deal”, when Stage 4 Oligarchy was spoken so loud and clear that all power of denial was lost for good. It was the Wisconsin Democratic Primary.

Surely, if Bernie did well by the voters, the democratic establishment would represent their (large D) Democratic choice.  No. No. And NO. Three of the Super Delegates from Badger Land heard the voice of their constituents and denied them as quickly as a rooster can crow three times. I was slapped silly. kind_berniephoneHere in a state where democrats and progressives have been denied and muted for all the years of the reign of Scott Walker, surely we could count on the leaders of the democratic party to finally give us a hope for cheer. They would listen and honor the will of the people from the ultimate poll of polls; the ballot box. No. No. And NO. Super Delegates Ron Kind, Tammy Baldwin, and Gwen Moore all put the prevailing wind of the Oligarchy and party over the vote of the people they represent. They didn’t even apologize or waver overMoore_super their individual choice of Hillary over the overwhelming majority of the people of Wisconsin. No. No. And NO. I voted and trusted these people at every election and rally for years. That was it. No further doubt. Stage 4 Oligarchy.

The doctor walked slowly into my living room while MSNBC blared in the background with Chris Mathews delivering a bit of script supplied by the Hillary Campaign (documented in Wiki Leak emails) and stood silent for a moment. I knew what the diagnosis was, denial melted before he even spoke the words: “Stage 4 Oligarchy”.

Whether you agree with the diagnosis or not, this is where I live. It ain’t easy. I once enjoyed watching the day’s news on CNN and MSNBC and stayed up (I am a morning person these days) to watch The Rachel Maddow Show. No more. When you go Stage 4 the whole world changes. What once seemed truthful and entertaining, now smells of disingenuous babble. When you’ve gone Stage 4 there is no Hillary out there to save you. Hillary is the very Queen Oligarchy. At Stage 4 there is no more time for Hillary and the threat of Trump is a lesser evil than death of American Democracy. It has already been bought and trampled beyond recognition.

The last great hope is for a miracle at the democratic convention or the Green Party; the last two options for curing Stage 4 within the body politic.

So, if you are a Hillary supporter, please understand – It is the Oligarchy stupid.

CURVE Ball – Chris Mathews

Chris Mathews throws “sucker” pitches from his MSNBC “Hardball” platform

Yes. MSNBC is touting the Chris Mathew’s “Documentary”:  “Chris Matthews explores Hillary Clinton’s historic political course, from first lady to Secretary of State, and potentially first woman elected president of the United States. msnbc_hillaryboycottTune in Sunday at 9pm ET on MSNBC.”

HA!  This is not “Hardball”, but a curve ball – a spit ball delivered by a once great pitcher from a mound of defeated journalistic ideals.

Bernie supporters are well aware and furious at the unbalanced, skewed, and slanted messaging spewing from MSNBC and CNN. After all, why would Comcast or Time Warner want to pay their just taxes under the reign of that “socialist” Bernie Sanders?  But Chris Mathews has reinvented his “Hardball” platform to become little more than glee club for the Hillary campaign. Why is Mathew’s Hillary cheer leading any more insidious than that of his MSNBC and CNN mates? Mathew’s wife Kathleen (pictured above with her Hardball hubby) is running for Congress Maryland’s 8th District! Well how about them apples? And the proof of his unfair use of position lies within the winding strings within Mathew’s Hardball.

MSNBC Produces “Hillary” Documentary with Chris Mathews and Kathleen Gets the Prize

OK. Last June Mathews admitted the “possible” conflict of interest presented by Kathleen’s run for Congress.

“As a journalist, I also know how mathews_socialistimportant it is to respect certain boundaries on my support for her both in my public role and here on MSNBC. And while most of you know that our show doesn’t typically cover congressional races, I will continue to fully disclose my relationship with her as part of MSNBC’s commitment to being transparent and fair in our coverage.”

Well I have not heard him mention the “conflict” even once since that time. Have you?

All of my former favorite shows have become cheer sections for Hillary, but in the case of Chris Mathews the over reach and blatant disregard for anything approaching journalism has crossed a line. Isn’t it interesting how the Hillary Doc cropped up immediately after her anticipated victory in the New York Primary? Like it just showed up at the right time. Right.

So, how has Chris Mathews used his platform for Kathleen’s benefit?

“Using Federal Election Commission data andmsnbc_cheerleaders3 Hardball transcripts, The Intercept has identified 48 frequent guests of Matthews’s program who have made donations to the Kathleen Matthews for Congress campaign. These individuals, their spouses, or their political action committees donated $79,050 as of December 31, 2015 — about 5 percent of the $1.5 million Matthews had raised as of that time.”

“Some of the guests made the donations after they were on the show — in some cases, long after. But in at least 11 of these cases, the Hardball guests appeared on the program after Kathleen Matthews announced her candidacy, and without any disclosure of the donations. And in at least three of those cases, the donations came within days of the MSNBC appearance.” Read more

I will NOT be watching Chris Mathew’s documentary of the joy of being on the good side of Hillary Clinton Sunday night. Nope!

To give you a sense of how much the Democratic Party/DNC establishment is on Hillary Clinton’s side, we have an amazing story from Counterpunch about how they funneled millions into her campaign. Somehow this is apparently legal, but it seems a lot like money laundering. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down.

Indict Walker! Tammy calls in the DOJ

The arrest and cuffing of the Wisconsin State Capital doors really did happen. Walker really did shut down the People’s House in reaction to the massive demonstrations in the early days of his “Act 10” administration. Even U.S. Congressman Dave Obey expressed anger that the Wisconsin State Capitol was closed to demonstrators this week. Obey, who served the state’s 7th District from 1969 until 2011, was himself denied entry.

Remember the Outrage

It just happened again – only worse. No, the physical doors were not locked and cuffed, but last week the doors to the people where locked and shuttered as surely as they were on that cold February day. After years of illegal, back room gerrymandering, stacking the Supreme Court, and buying votes in exchange for handouts of tax credits, real estate, and high paying political appointments – wallker_madoff2the path was cut to slam the doors of the Peoples’ House in a more devastating ploy than the physical cuffing of the entrance years ago. Slam, Bam, Thank-you Mam! Walker and the GOP just succeeded in a play that would have left Bernie Madoff or Al Capone hopping like students of at a “Jump Around” break at a Badgers Game. Yes in a sweeping power grab, that left the concept of democracy searching for new definitions from WIKI, the GOP passed laws to make it next to impossible to be investigated. All this in the same week that thousands of jobs were lost with the closing of Oscar Meyer in Madison and proceeded by other closings in recent months – Spartech of Portage, Eaton of Watertown – and what is the GOP Assembly, Senate, concerned about? Jobs? NO. Crumbling roads? NO. Making certain they cannot be investigated? YES. Jump Around!

So What’s To Do?

So with a sweep of Walkers pen the wrists of democracy are left slashed and bleeding in a State where we cannot investigate the wrong doing of our democratic political leaders. The John Doe investigation, the investigative action that has a longer life than Walker Administration itself, is no longer recognized as a “legitimate” tool for uncovering the corruption that most of the people can plainly see really did happen. Does anyone really believe Walker did not know about the secret emails being spit out like sunflower shells from a toothless lawmaker? No. All old hat. Jump Around!

What About the FBI

When I looked at the FBI web site they say:

It’s our top priority among criminal investigations—and for good reason.

Public corruption poses a fundamental threat to our national security and way of life. It impacts everything from how well our borders are secured and our neighborhoods protected…to verdicts handed down in courts…to the quality of our roads, schools, and other

walker_fbigovernment services. And it takes a significant toll on our pocketbooks, wasting billions in tax dollars every year.

And if you follow the link you will see the picture above. The grainy guy in the sport coat reminded me of a pic in my “Walker file”. Yes? No? Is he being investigated? Did they inadvertently pull a picture from an on-going investigation? Probably not.

Best Hope for a Walker Indictment

Thanks to the new legislation, Walker will never face indictment from any investigation within the State of Wisconsin. The only hope for justice must come from the Federal level, and it appears we finally have a representative willing to get the ball rolling. Enter Tammy Baldwin.

In a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Baldwin asks for a review of how three loans by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation were handled. The loans have not been repaid.Call to DOJ

Of course, the three loans are just the tip of cold, blue ice berg of corruption. It is unclear what finally prompted Tammy to take the action, but it may be the last hope for a Walker indictment. A federal investigation would finally spill the Walker’s criminal pay-to-play orgy of naked depravity into the national press; the kind of scrutiny that may well be the real reason he dropped out of the Presidential race.

Walker plays Fox to Hillary

We all knew it was coming. How would Scott Walker handle questions about Hillary Clinton’s “secret email server” and “pay-to-play” deals? The paintings adorning the Governor’s Conference Room (pictured below right) may just as well be replaced with the images of convicted felons and pay-to-play loyalists who sent Walker around the world posing as a presidential candidate.

The moment arrived on Fox News during a April 25 interview. Tremors of facial nuance travel across Walker’s head piece as he is set up to walker_emailanimate the classic cliche, will the pot call the kettle black? The saying dates back to the 1600’s when open fire cooking blackened all cooking utensils a sooty but equal darkened char. And as could only be expected, Walker pitched forth with a pretense of being a stainless steel colander as he shamed Hillary Clinton’s behavior as the smudge pot duplicability. The U tube video of carbon encrusted governor, whose office was located just 30 feet away from the secret email network that was employed in his original election for governor, calling out Hillary Clinton for her email server.

Early in the interview, when Walker is introduced as a “possible” candidate for President of the United States, he does an eyebrow twitch that seems to say,”Yeah, how about that?” or “That’s me, President Walker”?

Then later when the example of the Virgina Governor convicted of provided political favors in exchange for money and gifts – Walker actually swallows like it keeps him awake at night – “Running for higher office has its risks.”?

It wasn’t enough that Walker sullied himself with calling Hillary’s pan blacker than his pot, but he also seeks to portray himself as a friend to the American Worker?

We should be looking after the American worker in whatever we do. I’m gonna stand for the American worker.

Thus far the national media has focused on the news-grabbing guffaws, shift and skip, flip and flop half truths and lies as his “positions” on immigration, ethanol production, abortion, and even evolution pop and dodge like the wack-a-mole. Warning. He will play this game of sound bite bobble with all the finesse of card shark in a casino. walker_nose_workYou are probably dealing with a “type A” sociopath. He will win this game every time. He has no moral foundation for his views and can and will say anything to further the message of money lenders. You will not win the “gotcha” game with Scott Walker. It is all a distraction or a slight-of-hand to pull attention away from his obvious incompetency and from the black hole where his ethics are supposed to be. It is very tempting to play his game, but in the end you will be “sound-bite” suckered. The photo depicts the most recent in Walker’s long list self serving shifts and flops. Just before the election for his second term he said he would not sign Right to Work legislation – the photo is taken of the moment of signing the bill just three months later.

It is a mistake to assume you are dealing with an ethical human being. He will say anything. Instead, just look at the obvious results of his leadership when it comes to the nuts-and-bolts of budget, jobs, and administrative incompetence. The most blatant example of this incompetence is just behind the curtain. You want to know where Walker will take Executive Branch of Government? Ignore the sound bites and take a peek at the department he created – the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).

Many people across the nation are getting to know Scott Walker for the first time, and are listening to what he says and the manner in which he presents himself to form an opinion. This post is for folks living in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and other primary states, and presented to save you a boat load of time. You cannot trust – you cannot believe anything he says. What’s more, most of his boldest and most controversial polices will be enacted only after he is elected.

He will never mention them during his campaign.walker flip flop Do you know that during his campaign for first term governor, he never mentioned his plan to curtail collective bargaining rights for most public workers? Never bothered to even hint at the action during his campaign. Likewise, none of the drastic cuts to public schools, the university system, senior care, and the DNR were revealed in his campaign for his second term. So, no matter what he is saying… it has nothing to do with his real plans.

What does that mean for all the voters out there who are watching and listening to Scott Walker regarding his plans to reshape the country? A waste of time. Please Take a lesson from the voters of Wisconsin and don’t waste your time listening to what he says, since he has demonstrated how the policies and promises he pontificates on the campaign stump are irrelevant to the action he will take once the election is over. Please do not believe what you hear, or at least be aware – you will not hear so much as a whisper of any controversial actions he intends to impose. Not a word.

Walker is already being tagged a flip flopper. Below are some specific examples of how his stump speeches, are totally incongruous to his real history. Even the New York Times chooses the word “pitch” to describe the snake oil sales job of the Governor of Wisconsin

He is tailoring his pitch to his audiences — wearing pullover sweaters in earth-tone colors in one early primary state, New Hampshire, and discussing the power of prayer in another, here in South Carolina. He has reined in his rambling speeches, at least compared with his recorded remarks over the years. He is trying to listen more and opine less, associates say, and he is easygoing with voters — a contrast with his pugilistic reputation from his successful battle against Wisconsin labor unions, which made him a hero to many conservatives.New York Times

A few drops of snake oil

Walker on the stump:

“One of my clear rules is, if you’re going to be on our team, whether on the paid staff or a volunteer, what I always say is you need to respect the voters,” Walker said. “Because really if you think about campaigns, it’s not about the candidate or the staff. It’s about the voter. It’s about how to help people’s lives be better.Scott Walker

Below is an email from his Deputy Chief of Staff when he was County Executive in Milwaukee. Oh, the email was held on a secret email network (you know the same type he admonished Hillary for) which is held in evidence for the ongoing John Doe Investigation.

“One of the things I’ve stressed…in the last few days as I’ve looked at the possibility of running is you have my firm commitment walker_nose_respectthat I’m going to focus on making sure that the people on my team should we go forward are people who respect voters.”

On the stump Walker boasts how his reforms have made Wisconsin “more free and prosperous”. It could be true if you happen to fit into an special category he likes to call: “stakeholders” like Bill Gardner of Wisconsin and Southern Railroad who got over 14 million dollars in grants after an illegal contribution $160,000 to his campaign. Or Diane Hendricks, the richest women in Wisconsin who contributed $500,000 to his campaign with the request, “will we become right to work?”. Or John Menard who contributed 1.5 million to his campaign and got it all back in tax breaks for his lumber/hardware company. Otherwise, if you are not one of the wealthiest in your state, take a look at the side bar at the right showing the high number of mortgages under water in Wisconsin when compared to the rest of the country.

You may have been wondering where I went over the past months. I took a break from blogging to finish this novel.

“Days and lies” is a psychological thriller, set in the University town of Madison, Wisconsin, that is guaranteed to keep you guessing. Yes. A twelve mile system of tunnels really does exist below the campus. So does the Willy Web, the Lair, and the answer to how a little girl becomes invisible.

Jenna Pope – Princess of pixels

Jenna first caught the eye of many in Wisconsin when she collected the most signatures on petitions to recall Scott Walker. She was out in that cold February Winter daily. She stood with groups on street corners, and gathered in parking lots. She was an inspiration, the very embodiment of the vibrancy of youth, speaking truth to power.

And, of course, there were always the pictures she posted of people and places, jenna pope2 but with gift. Jenna’s eye through the lens captured the passion of protest. Even early on, when she was using a point and shoot camera, her pictures captured the conflict, irony, satire, and grace of human emotion in a way that struck the heart strings. I’ve never met Jenna, but I fell in love with her energy and work.

Would her energy and passion end with the loss of the Recall Election? Not Jenna. She was no one hit wonder. She went on and on. Soon she began shooting magical shots of the Overpass Light Brigade with trailers of neon spilling on to face book and twitter.

And, I remember a face book post when she announced that she was finally able to save the money to purchase her first “professional” camera, with all the bells and whistles.

She moved on to New York City and half way around the world, following her passionate fascination with peoples’ struggles for justice. Jenna tells her story in her own voice, in a much more moving and personal way than I ever could.

She is nearly at her goal of raising $15,000 for her collection of photographs, “Photo Book – An Activist Armed with a Camera”. jenna pope

Walker's Wisconsin – Job Creator

A corner with no wiggle room

Walker remains stuck in the corner of his own creation. His biggest and boldest pledge to the voters of Wisconsin in 2010 was splashed in headlines across state –
Governor Walker promises Wisconsin 250,000 new jobs

Walker’s most obvious failure to create jobs has cornered him in the joining of two walls; statistical fact, on one side, and incompetent administration, on the other. Walker has demonstrated the ability to grease himself with message and money to wiggle out of such corners before, as in the John Doe investigation and his refusal to compromise with unions before curtailing collective bargaining rights, but this time he appears to be caught in his own political soup, and he is beginning to wiggle.

Walker seldom says anything beyond his memorized and prepared talking points, but last Monday in Merrill, Wisconsin he was caught going off script and was recorded on video back sliding on his campaign job promise. The wiggling began after the comment was aired: Walker’s press secretary asks Rhinelander TV station to remove story.

Blue Cheddar Blog August 29

“Walker’s press secretary, Tom Evenson, called Newswatch 12 on Tuesday, and asked if we could be persuaded to take Monday’s story off our website.”

Walker backs off campaign jobs pledge at Merrill stop

On Monday in Merrill, he carefully backed away from the specific number.

“My goal wasn’t so much to hit a magic number as much as it was, in the four years before I took office, when I was campaigning, I saw that we lost over 133,000 jobs in the state. I said, ‘it’s really not about jobs, it’s about real people, real jobs like those here, and more importantly, affecting real families all across the state,'” Walker said.WJFW TV Video(Was not removed after Walker Administration request)

New talking point
In a speech in Milwaukee two days later, however, Walker “reaffirmed” his commitment to the promise.

“We haven’t changed our stance,” Walker said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Whether we are at 249,000 or 255,000 or whatever the magic number is for us, we wanted to go from losing jobs to gaining jobs. All of our focus and attention is overwhelmingly on not just meeting that goal, but part of my nuance the other day … I’m not going to take a rest the minute we hit 250,000.”Huffington Post

The Milwaukee Business Journal reported that Walker also said his promise was an “‘aggressive goal’ that he doesn’t regret.” A recent Journal Sentinel evaluation of Walker’s progress showed that the state will need about 165,000 more jobs to fulfill the pledge by January 2015, when his first term expires.

In June, The Business Journals ranked Walker 40th out of 45 governors in job creation.

What went so terribly wrong in four words?

1) Wisconsin 2) Economic 3) Development 4) Corporation

The WEDC is Walker. It is the major reform to create the vehicle for streamlining government according to his conservative principals. He abolished a major department of government to launch his flag ship of job creation – the Wisconsin Department of Commerce:

1955 Wisconsin Department of Commerce is created

The Department of Commerce was administered by the Wisconsin Secretary of Commerce, who was appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Wisconsin State Senate.
The department traced its roots to the Division of Industrial Development within the Office of the Governor, as established by the Wisconsin Legislature in 1955.

The the entire Department of Commerce, that functioned without major problems for 35 years, was dismantled, “reformed”, and restructured by Gov. Scott Walker in February 2011. Commerce was replaced with the new and streamlined Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), and branded as a public-private agency, to boost job growth. flagshipwedcThis was the flag ship of “Walker Reform” boasting an $83 million budget. The regulatory, big government, impediments of the Commerce Department would be striped to make room for the Neoconservative efficiency of WEDC – the flagship of the new Walker reform to allow for the lofty goal of creating jobs, jobs, jobs. Thus the Department of Commerce was “reformed” and WEDC was to be the engine that would drive the creation of 250,000 jobs by the end of his term, as Walker promised in his campaign.

So, Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC) was created in February of 2011 by the state GOP controlled Legislature and Walker. Five months later, on July 1st – the flagship of reform took over the economic development functions of the old and antiquated Department of Commerce.

The initial Promise? “WEDC will create 50,000 jobs by June 2012”

Walker’s most impressive failure

The short and failed history of the WEDC is the Bible for the candidate to face Walker in 2014. It is the demise of Scott Walker chapter and verse. It is the Walker plan for reform fully documented and annotated with examples of administrative incompetence, inside deals and lack of transparency that has spiraled Wisconsin to the bottom of job creation when compared to other states of the country, and been the direct cause of pain and hurt for Wisconsin voters.

October 19, 2012 – Lost 9 Million Dollars?

Just three months after Walker’s WEDC had been plagued with communication and oversight problems which had been “fixed” by his trustworthy appointee Ryan Murray, Gov. Scott Walker called for “dramatic moves”. In the wake of revelations that his flagship jobs agency had lost track of $9 million in past due loans with due dates going back more than a year, the reformer did another shift and shuffle of staff.

The Neoconservative anti regulation, streamlined department fails again. Some $69 million in loans — including $9 million in past-due loans — were missed, because no one was assigned to oversee them when the agency was created in 2011! Now, that is what I call a reform! Who needs all the red tape of checking up on accounts receivable? All this just months after Murray said he would help to ensure better lines of communication between the WEDC, other agencies and the governor’s office?
